Why Source Direct from Mackay?

Maximize your profit margins by eliminating the trading company layer.

Trading Companies

  • ✗ Adds a margin layer between you and the factory

  • ✗ No in-house R&D or molding capability

Mackay Hair Tools (Us)

  • ✓ Factory-direct pricing with no reseller layer

Buy Hair Brushes in Bulk — What Changes at Volume

Ordering hair brushes in bulk directly from the factory removes the layer between you and the production line. Here is how bulk ordering actually works at Mackay.

Bulk does not have to mean a full container. A bulk order here starts at 300 pieces per style for stock designs — small enough for a DTC brand to test a new line, large enough to earn true factory pricing. From there, per-unit cost drops at each volume tier, and the same five-stage quality inspection applies whether you order 300 brushes or 30,000.

Three things are worth knowing before placing a bulk hair brush order:

  • Mixing categories reaches the next tier faster. The 300-piece minimum applies per style, but volume tiers are counted across your whole order. A 1,200-piece order split across round, paddle, vent, and detangling brushes qualifies for Growth-tier pricing — and builds a more complete catalog than 1,200 units of a single SKU.
  • Tooling is usually not part of the cost. With 1,500+ existing molds already in production, most bulk buyers customize color, bristle type, logo, and packaging on an existing brush body — no mold investment, and no tooling cost amortized across your first order.
  • Quality control does not scale down with volume. Every bulk order, at every tier, goes through pre-production sample sign-off and the same five inspection stages. A 300-piece trial run and a 20,000-piece container come off the same line to the same specification.

Tell us your target quantity and category mix, and we will quote bulk pricing, MOQ, and lead time by tier — see the volume tiers below, or request a bulk quote directly.

How Wholesale Volume Tiers Actually Work

Most factories publish a tier table and stop there. Here is the part that usually goes unexplained.

A tier is a volume band, not a price list

Our four tiers define quantity bands. They do not define a fixed price per brush. A 1,200-piece order and a 4,800-piece order both sit in the Growth band, but they will not quote identically — and neither will two 1,200-piece orders for different products.

This matters when you compare suppliers. A factory that quotes a single flat price “at 1,000 pieces” without asking what you are ordering is quoting a placeholder. Volume sets the band; the specification sets the price inside it.

Why unit price varies inside the same tier

Four variables move the number, and they move it independently of quantity:

  • Product complexity. A vent brush with a single-shot injection body and a nano-ceramic round brush with a coated barrel and PA46 bristles are not comparable units of manufacturing, whatever the order size.
  • Bristle and material specification. Natural boar bristle, PA66 or PA46 nylon, ball-tipped pins, and wooden pins each carry different material costs and different insertion cycle times. Bristle density changes the cycle time again.
  • Finishing and decoration. Pad printing, hot stamping, laser engraving, and epoxy doming are different operations with different setup and per-unit costs. Pantone matching requires a dedicated material batch.
  • Packaging. Unbranded bulk packing, printed sleeves, rigid retail boxes, and Amazon drop-test-compliant packaging sit at very different price points — and packaging often accounts for more of the gap between two quotes than the brush does.

This is why we quote against a specification rather than against a number. Send the quantity and the spec together and the quote is firm; send only a quantity and any figure you receive is an estimate that will move.

Per-order volume is not the only route

Volume banding prices a single purchase order. For distributors, that is often not the right structure.

We also work on annual commitment arrangements, where pricing is set against a projected twelve-month volume and released across multiple shipments rather than earned order by order. This suits distributors with steady replenishment but limited warehouse capacity, and buyers who would otherwise sit just below a band threshold on every individual order.

We have also entered territory and channel exclusivity agreements. Terms are negotiated case by case and set out in a signed agreement, so we do not publish them — but the structure is available, and it is worth raising early, because it changes how the rest of the commercial terms are built.

Questions worth asking any supplier about their tiers

  • Is the minimum counted per style or across the whole order? The answer changes what a mixed catalog costs you.
  • Does the quoted price include tooling — and if a mold is required, who owns it afterwards?
  • Which specification is the quote built on? Ask for it in writing, with bristle type, material grade, decoration method, and packaging listed separately.
  • Does the same inspection standard apply at the lowest tier as at the highest, and can you see the inspection report?
  • What happens to pricing on a reorder that falls below the original tier?
  • Are duties and tariffs inside or outside the quoted price, and under which Incoterm?

What we can and cannot tell you about pricing. We can tell you exactly how our own structure works, and we have set it out above. We cannot tell you what the hair brush industry as a whole charges at each volume — and neither can any other single supplier. That would require quotations from multiple factories, actual purchase contracts, and distributor interviews, none of which any one manufacturer has access to.

Treat the tiers above as one factory’s published structure that you can compare against, not as a market benchmark. If a supplier tells you their tiers are the industry standard, ask them how they know.

Our Standard Commercial Terms

Published in full, because these are rarely put in writing before a quotation.

Minimum order 300 pieces per style for stock designs using existing molds; 500 pieces for custom OEM/ODM with your own logo, color, and packaging.
Tooling No tooling cost across our 1,500+ existing molds. Custom molds are quoted separately, and only where an existing body cannot meet the design.
Payment Typically 30% deposit with the balance before shipment. Terms for annual commitment and contract accounts are agreed separately.
Shipping FOB Guangzhou, CIF, EXW, or DDP. FBA-direct shipping to Amazon fulfillment centers is available.
Tariffs Responsibility for Section 301 and other duties is agreed per contract. We have structured orders both ways and state clearly which applies in your quotation.
Production 30–45 days from approved pre-production sample.
Certifications ISO 9001:2015, BSCI, CE, RoHS, GCC, FSC, SGS and PSE — all current and verifiable by certificate number.

Who we build these structures for

Salon chains sourcing tools for their own back bar, beauty schools and training academies buying student kits, regional salon distributors, professional-line brands, DTC brands, and Amazon sellers. Combination sets, salon counter display units, trial sizes, and fixed-BOM school kits are all formats we produce.

Minimums and structure are set case by case rather than by customer type. Tell us the quantity, the category mix, and the specification, and we will quote pricing, MOQ, and lead time by tier.

1

Browse & Select

Explore our 6 product categories or tell us your requirements — we will recommend the best product mix for your market.

2

Request Samples

Free standard samples for stock designs. Custom samples with your logo and color carry a sample fee, fully deducted from your first bulk order.

3

Confirm Specs

We send a detailed specification sheet: bristle type, handle material, Pantone color, logo placement, and packaging design. You approve the pre-production sample before we proceed.

4

Production & QC

30-45 day production cycle. Every batch undergoes a 5-stage quality inspection — injection, bristle planting, assembly, finish, and final packaging check. Bulk buyers who want the detail before committing can read our five inspection stages for bulk orders, including how defect classification is agreed per SKU and what happens to a rejected lot.

5

Ship & Deliver

Choose FOB, CIF, EXW, or DDP shipping terms. We handle export documentation, customs support, and coordinate directly with your freight forwarder or FBA warehouse.

Factory Insight: In our experience, the wholesale clients who build the strongest repeat business do not order one brush type — they launch a curated collection across several categories. The first order is larger, but a fuller toolkit keeps end customers returning, and the buyer reaches a higher volume tier on the same spend. We help brands work out that product mix before the first purchase order, not after it.

Frequently Asked Questions

Common queries from our B2B partners.

What is the minimum order quantity for wholesale hair brushes? +

Our standard wholesale MOQ is 300 pieces per style for stock designs using existing molds, and 500 pieces for custom OEM/ODM orders with your own logo, color, and packaging specifications. We offer flexible MOQ negotiation for startup brands and first-time buyers.

Do you offer wholesale pricing tiers? +

Yes. Our wholesale pricing is structured in four tiers based on order volume: Starter (300-999 pcs), Growth (1,000-4,999 pcs), Scale (5,000-19,999 pcs), and Enterprise (20,000+ pcs). Volume discounts are available at every tier — contact us for a detailed quote. All tiers are factory-direct with no trading company markup.

Why do two orders in the same tier get different unit prices? +

Because a tier is a quantity band, not a price list. Within the same band, unit price still moves with product complexity, bristle and material specification, decoration method, and packaging. Two 1,200-piece orders for different brushes will quote differently. This is why we quote against a written specification rather than against a quantity alone.

Do you offer annual volume commitments instead of per-order pricing? +

Yes. Pricing can be set against a projected twelve-month volume and released across multiple shipments, rather than earned order by order. This suits distributors with steady replenishment but limited warehouse capacity, and buyers who would otherwise sit just below a tier threshold on every individual order. Territory and channel exclusivity agreements are also available, negotiated case by case.

Can I mix different brush types in one wholesale order? +

Yes. You can combine round, paddle, vent, detangling, and extension brushes in a single order, as long as the total quantity per individual style meets the minimum MOQ (300 pcs per style for stock items). This allows you to build a complete product catalog in one shipment.

Can I buy hair brushes in bulk without a custom design? +

Yes. Bulk orders of stock designs start at 300 pieces per style with no mold or tooling cost — you can order hair brushes in bulk straight from our existing catalogue, with a printed logo only, or completely unbranded for white-label resale. Custom color, bristle configuration, and retail packaging can be added at any volume tier.

What shipping options are available for wholesale orders? +

We support FOB Guangzhou, CIF (to your nearest port), EXW, and DDP (delivered to your door or warehouse). Logistics partners include DHL, FedEx, UPS for express shipments, and dedicated sea freight forwarders for full-container orders. FBA-direct shipping to Amazon fulfillment centers is also available.
